Simon Harrington joins PIMFA

The Personal Investment Management & Financial Advice Association (PIMFA)1, announced today that Simon Harrington has been appointed as its Senior Policy Adviser for Public Policy, with effect from Monday 16th October 2017.
Simon comes to PIMFA, the leading trade association for the personal investment management and financial advice sector in the UK, from the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) where he was Senior Public Policy Adviser for four years and Corporate Affairs Manager for 2 years.
Prior to his roles at NEST, Simon worked at HM Treasury for four years, firstly as a Corporate Communications Officer from 2008 to 2010, following a move to Communications and Governance Manager at the Asset Protection Agency from 2010 to 2012.
‘I am extremely happy to be joining PIMFA” said Simon. “I am looking forward to helping PIMFA develop its forward looking agenda for advice and wealth management firms – ensuring that their best interests are well represented.
“Having come from a pensions background, I am acutely aware of the fundamental role the adviser industry needs to be playing in ensuring that individual savers are able to achieve the best outcome possible from their retirement savings. Access to financial advice is a fundamental part of a well-functioning financial services landscape and I look forward to progressing the concerns of PIMFA members on this front in particular”.
